Injured AEW Star Cleared For Return

An injured AEW star could return soon

An injured All Elite Wrestling star has been cleared to make their in-ring return.

After sitting out with a torn meniscus for over seven months, former AAA Mega Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo has been cleared for a return to the ring, with a report from F4WOnline stating that the exciting lucha star is targeting a September 27 comeback.

Lucha Libre AAA have begun using Vikingo on promotional materials once more, with Vikingo on the advertisement for their upcoming September 29 show, as well as their three-date tour of Spain in November. Vikingo last worked for an AEW owned property in January 2024, appearing on a Ring of Honor TV taping alongside Pentagon el Zero Miedo.

Vikingo tore his meniscus during a match with Psycho Clown & Wotan against the Negocio Traumado team of Demonio Infernal, Fresero Jr., & Trauma I at an AULL event in early February. Vikingo had suffered knee problems prior to this injury, and the decision was made to undergo surgery in order to attempt to correct any issues.

As a result of the injury, Vikingo was forced to vacate the AAA Mega Championship, ending his run at 833 days. Vikingo himself became champion after previous holder Kenny Omega was forced to relinquish the belt due to injury.
