The latest developments in the ongoing sexual assault and trafficking lawsuit between Janel Grant and WWE/Vince McMahon saw the Grant amend her lawsuit, revealing publicly new details regarding the alleged abuse which took place. Both sides took shots at one another since this development, with McMahon’s camp claiming that the amendments were a publicity stunt. McMahon and WWE had both requested to move the case to private arbitration and throw out the amendments, citing the signed non-disclosure agreement as a reason for the case to not be continued in a public court setting.
Per Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling, Grant’s team is now looking to move into the discovery phase of the case - something the defendant has been actively opposing. It is noted that Grant is seeking documents relating to McMahon’s alleged payments to other women and documents regarding sexual harassment in WWE, in addition to travel records regarding Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, who was specifically named in the amended lawsuit.
Per Thurston, an attorney representing WWE is arguing that discovery should be delayed until the judge makes the decision to move the case to private arbitration or remains in court.
