Jim Ross To Miss AEW Double Or Nothing

Jim Ross set to be absent from AEW Double or Nothing 2024

Jim Ross will not be calling the action at Double or Nothing on May 26, with the veteran announcer currently out of action with illness.

J.R. was hospitalised on May 23 after complaining of ‘shortness of breath’, and in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer confirmed that the announcing legend would not be present for All Elite Wrestling’s upcoming pay-per-view event.

The WWE Hall of Famer works a reduced schedule with AEW, only calling matches on the promotion’s major PPV shows. Indeed, Ross was set to work Double or Nothing, but has contracted ‘class A flu’ and is experiencing raised heart enzymes as well as the aforementioned breathing issues. Meltzer says that Ross is receiving ‘excellent care’, and J.R. expects to be fine in ‘a few days’.

Ross has been with AEW since its inception in 2019, but has missed multiple shows over the past year due to various health issues. The veteran announcer inked a new deal with promotion earlier in 2024, and recently spoke of his hopes to revive his legendary commentary team with Jerry Lawler for one more night, with Lawler having recently ended his performer’s contract with WWE.
