KENTA Calls Out CM Punk

Could a battle of the GTS be on the cards?

The year of the forbidden door has thrown out one last tease, as new IWGP US Heavyweight Champion KENTA has called out AEW’s CM Punk.

KENTA laid down the gauntlet fresh after defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi for the US Title at NJPW Power Struggle, saying the following:

"I am the new IWGP United States Champion! I don't know if you guys remember what I said when I came to New Japan in 2019. I said I'm here to prove who I am. After three years, I finally prove who the f*** I am, baby. I'm the United States Champion, it doesn't matter if it's going to happen or not, but I just want to entertain you guys. I want to give you guys a home. Hey CM Punk! I'm ready to put you (to) sleep.”

A dream match in the truest sense of the word, Punk and KENTA have never crossed paths, despite both having worked matches for ROH, WWE, and AEW, with many wanting the match due to Punk adopting KENTA’s finisher the Go 2 Sleep.

Whether the match takes place or not is another question, but considering the year pro wrestling has had then surely anything is possible.
