Kurt Angle Confirms Scrapped WWE Elimination Chamber Plans

No Angle in Saudi Arabia

Kurt Angle has confirmed he was set to be involved at WWE's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia.

The Wrestling Machine previously revealed he was going to return to WWE TV earlier this year but a short programme was nixed at the last second.

Reports then noted Angle's return would have seen him become involved in the feud between Alpha Academy and RK-Bro with plans in place for a 'Three I's Challenge', playing on Angle's 'Intensity, Integrity and Intelligence' catchphrase. There were also discussions to have Angle involved at Elimination Chamber as a special guest referee in a match between both tag teams.

Speaking on his podcast, Angle confirmed he was going to be a special guest referee at Elimination Chamber.

"There are a lot of rumours going around that I was supposed to be booked for Wrestlemania 38, which is not true at all. If you saw the posts, a lot of people thought that I was talking about WrestleMania when I was talking about what I was going to do at the Royal Rumble and have the programme for a few weeks. Then the blow-off would be in Saudi Arabia, where I would referee the match between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy," Angle said.

"So I am not signed with WWE by any means. We didn't cut a deal. That whole programme [RK-Bro vs. Alpha Academy] got cancelled at the last second. So it never happened. It's unfortunate, but you know, sometimes they have different plans for these guys. So there's nothing you can do about it."

Angle has been a free agent since his WWE release in April 2020, although he has made multiple one-off appearances since then.
