Kurt Angle Says He Sees Plenty Of Potential In Baron Corbin Following WWE Release
Kurt Angle had only good things to say about Corbin's potential
Nov 17, 2024
Kurt Angle hasn’t had the most favourable experiences when it comes to Baron Corbin. Back in 2019, Kurt Angle wrestled his official retirement match at WrestleMania 35 against Corbin in a match that was rejected harshly by fans. It was revealed that Vince McMahon simply laughed off the disapproval from the WWE audience and proclaimed, “F*ck Em!”.
Angle doesn’t have any ill will to Corbin personally though despite his own desires to have wrestled somebody else ahead of saying farewell to an in-ring career. Kurt Angle spoke about Baron Corbin on Busted Open Radio in response to the news that WWE would not be renewing Corbin’s deal.
“Baron’s really talented. I see a lot of potential in him. I was really disappointed with what WWE did with him. They pushed him at first, they had him beat me at WrestleMania for my retirement match, which is fine. I was okay with that. But then afterward, they had him win King of the Ring, and then he kind of fell off the radar, and he never really made it back. At least not to the extent that he should have. When you win King of the Ring, that means you’re gonna be a future world champion, and that did not happen for Corbin. I was really disappointed. I just wish that Baron Corbin would have had a much more successful career because he deserves that.”
Angle recently ruled out a return to the ring to face John Cena in his 2025 retirement tour.
