Latest On Mercedes Moné Signing With AEW

Mercedes Moné's future within professional wrestling remains slightly uncertain and there is an update on if she is still AEW-bound. 

There have been no teases about a rumoured impending arrival for Moné in All Elite Wrestling on the promotion's programming but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reiterated that "AEW does expect her to start on TV soon." Until a contract is signed and Moné actually debuts, though, nothing is 100 percent. 

Rumours about Mercedes Moné heading to AEW have been floating since the Summer of 2023, with it emerging following her appearance in the crowd at All In that working plans were in place between AEW and the former IWGP Women's Champion. Those plans were then off as of December 2023 and Moné held talks with WWE over a return, only for those talks to collapse. It then emerged in recent weeks that the expectation was Moné would now wind up in AEW. 

The belief within WWE is Tony Khan will push hard to bring in Mercedes Moné partly as a "counter punch" to the loss of Andrade el Idolo, who departed AEW at the end of the year and looks set to return to WWE. Some within WWE have speculated that Moné could still end up being a surprise entrant in the women's Royal Rumble on January 27, however.
