The record for the 'Van Dam lift' has been broken!

The unique lift was invented by WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam during the nineties. It sees the person performing the feat do an elevate version of the splits between two benches as they reach down, grab and pull up a dumbbell from the floor.

Jon Call (AKA Jujimufu) posted a video on social media showing him breaking the weight record on his first attempt.

According to the man himself, he lifted 180lbs (a 150lb dumbbell with three 10lb plates taped to it). The record, according to the Guinness World Records website, is currently held by Ujjwal S. Thakuri, who lifted 142.48lbs on November 4, 2017.

However, Van Dam has previously said that he did it with 166.5lbs back in his ECW days.

The lift's inventor praised Call's effort via his X account, writing 'I knew he could do it' and 'What a VANTASTIC job'.

The 53-year-old last wrestled on the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he teamed with HOOK to defeat Alex Reynolds and John Silver of The Dark Order.

Van Dam is open to having a part-time AEW run in the future.
