Recent reports have suggested that WWE were planning on launching NXT EVOLVE, but plans are still very much up in the air for the potential new show.

Reports in early January suggested the show was being planned by WWE to replace the cancelled Level Up, with the potential new show to debut ‘in a few months’. However, a new report from PWInsider suggests NXT EVOLVE isn’t necessarily a done deal, but is ‘still in play’.

It’s believed that some independent talents had been approached by WWE with regards to a potential taping session - believed to be for NXT EVOLVE - but the session was ultimately postponed.

The believed plan for NXT EVOLVE is to feature lesser spotted NXT talents as well as those signed up to the WWE ID programme, with both NXT EVOLVE and WWE ID being overseen by Gabe Sapolsky. Sapolsky previously ran indie promotion EVOLVE, co-founded Ring of Honor, and served as Paul Heyman’s protege in ECW.

NXT EVOLVE is also believed to be more of an episodic television show than Level Up was, with more storylines and promo time alongside in-ring action.
