Luke Menzies (the former Ridge Holland) has been very outspoken and honest about his run in WWE ever since he parted ways with the company, previously getting let go early from his contract after taking to social media claiming he was “hung out to dry” by WWE after the announcement that he was being released.

He recently spoke more on the aftermath of his unfortunate moment with Big E, in which the former WWE Champion landed awkwardly and broke his neck, leading to his early but unconfirmed professional wrestling retirement, something that he felt WWE held against him. Menzies revealed in an interview on Wrestling Life that WWE had planned for an on-screen apology, only for it to be cancelled at the last minute.

“I remember the week after we were supposed to go out for a segment on SmackDown. Vince [McMahon] arranged for me to cut an apology promo just before we were about to go out live. Now, I don’t know if this was a test. Pretty poor taste. But we were about to go out for our segment. It was live. I remember him counting me down. It was just like an apology thing, and I didn’t know what I was going to say. I was just going to be as real as I could, speak from the heart. It went like 10, 9, 8, and it got to 5, 4… then I saw Vince, Bruce just go like nah. They cut it at the last minute, the last second. Then we just went out for the segment, and I thought from then on, I never felt the same way about the company. I thought that they just did that to mess with me.”

Menzies was recently cleared to return to the ring after a lengthy time on the injury shelf.
