While he hasn't performed under the persona since his WWE release in April 2020, Matt Cardona opted to trademark 'Zack Ryder' in January, shortly before he trademarked Long Island Iced Z's catchphrase 'Woo Woo Woo. You Know It.'

Cardona addressed why he trademarked his old in-ring name while speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, saying the following: "Always ready. I'm a businessman. This isn't 'show friends', it's show business, as the great Scott Hall once said."

Cardona is currently a part of IMPACT Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance, although talk at the most recent set of IMPACT tapings suggested Cardona was finished with the promotion after the shows. It was believed that Cardona would make his WWE return at the Royal Rumble but that didn't happen.

Cardona's wife Chelsea Green did make her WWE return at the January 28 pay-per-view, however, and the former IMPACT Digital Media Champion noted he was "so proud" of her.

"She (Chelsea Green) was in the Royal Rumble? I missed it, I missed it...Maybe that's when I went to go take a p*ss. Nah, I'm kidding. I'm super proud of Chelsea Green, super happy for her to go back to WWE. She needs to go back. I mean, she didn't even have a cup of coffee there. She had the Keurig pot, didn't even press 'brew', you know what I'm saying? She didn't have a taste. She has to go now and she's a superstar and now the whole world's gonna know," Cardona added.

Although Cardona may be done with IMPACT after his matches from the New Year's Revolution tapings air, the 37-year-old is scheduled to challenge NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Tyrus for the gold at Nuff Said on February 11.
