Matt Cardona Comments On WWE Not Reaching Out To Him Over A Return

Matt Cardona believes he deserves a WWE return more than some others

With the success of Matt Cardona’s run on the independent scene over the last few years, finding glory in the likes of the NWA, GCW, and IMPACT, it has felt inevitable that at some point he will eventually return to WWE. With WWE signing his partner Chelsea Green in 2023, it felt even more likely that WWE would extend their hand to bring Cardona back into the fold.

This has still not happened, and whilst Cardona does have a (very small) chip on his shoulder due to WWE not reaching out, he is only using that as more motivation to perform to the highest level. When talking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, he was asked his thoughts regarding the situation.

“I mean, I'll be honest when all those people got rehired, I was thinking, not me? The guy who has been doing everything? What was the prerequisite to getting re-signed, not doing anything? Besides like Chelsea and like The Good Brothers, and a handful of others, most people didn't do anything. But that's fine. Everyone has a different path, a different story. Do you have a chip on my shoulder about that? I wouldn't say a chip, like a little crumb. But listen, this isn't about proving people wrong. It's about proving myself right. My fans right. If I can convert some doubters and get some new fans along the way, so be it. But I can't have this goal of being the absolute best with like negativity driving it, if that makes sense.”

Cardona has teased a return to WWE in the past, though of course nothing has materialised for the former Intercontinental Champion.
