Mercedes Mone Wins AEW TBS Title At Double Or Nothing, Kris Statlander Turns On Willow Nightingale

The CEO is the new TBS champion

Mercedes Mone is the new AEW TBS champion, after defeating Willow Nightingale at AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday night in Las Vegas.

Late in the match, Nightingale had Mone pinned with the Doctor Bomb, but an inadvertent distraction from Stokely Hathaway had Aubrey Edwards' focus. When Edwards finally counted, Nightingale only got two.

For the finish, Mone countered out of an attempted superplex by rolling down Nightingale's back, then lifting her into the Mone Maker to win the match.

Post-match, Kris Statlander helped Nightingale away, only to lay her out on the entrance ramp, while Hathaway smiled from the ring.

For Mone, it's her first championship in AEW, in her first match with the promotion. She debuted with AEW on March 13, and had not wrestled since the prior May, due to an injury sustained while wrestling Nightingale in a tournament final to crown the first NJPW Strong Women's champion.

Nightingale's reign ends at 35 days. She won the title from Julia Hart at AEW Dynasty on April 21 in St. Louis.
