G1 Climax 35 is fast approaching, with NJPW kicking things off next month on July 19, beginning the long road to Wrestle Kingdom next year. The finals will be held the following month on August 17. There were some leaks earlier in the week regarding the competitors for this year’s tournament, but NJPW have now officially announced the two blocks. During NJPW Dominion, the following entrants were revealed, with a few still yet to qualify.

Block A

  • Yuyu Uemura
  • Yota Tsuji
  • David Finlay
  • Hirooki Goto
  • Boltin Oleg
  • EVIL
  • Sanada
  • Hiroshi Tanahashi
  • Two others to qualify

Block B

  • Zack Sabre Jr
  • El Phantasmo
  • Shota Umino
  • Shingo Takagi
  • Great-O-Khan
  • Konosuke Takeshita
  • Ren Narita
  • Gabe Kidd
  • Two others to qualify

This will notably serve as the final ever G1 Climax of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s career, as he is set to retire from the ring at next year’s Wrestle Kingdom show in early 2026. The current NJPW president is a former three-time winner of the tournament, and will be looking for one last hurrah. Last year’s winner, Zack Sabre Jr, is also in the field, along with many other notable names.
