NJPW Scraps Set Of New Title Belts After Only Three Days

Back to the old IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title belts

The new version of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships weren't around for very long.

Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney of Bullet Club War Dogs revealed a new set of tag title belts with white straps at the pre-Wrestle Kingdom 18 press conference on January 3. Connors and Moloney ended up losing the titles only one day later, though, as Francesco Akira and TJP (under his new aswang mask) of Catch 22 defeated Bullet Club War Dogs at Wrestle Kingdom 18 in the Tokyo Dome.

Following Wrestle Kingdom, the new title belts are gone already. Akira and TJP emerged for a 10-man tag between United Empire and Bullet Club War Gods at New Year Dash on January 5 with the old IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title belts. The championships once again have black straps and silver plating.

The 10-man tag ended in a no contest, with Will Ospreay challenging Bullet Club War Dogs to another match at The New Beginning in Osaka which will be the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion's final NJPW match. David Finlay, the leader of Bullet Club, revealed the match would be inside a steel cage.
