No Official WWE Directive On How To Handle Anti-Rock Chants

Case-by-case basis when dealing with anti-Rock chants on WWE shows

WWE have received a backlash to The Rock's insertion into the main event of WrestleMania 40, with The Rock replacing Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns. WWE may well change those plans ahead of tonight's WrestleMania press conference but WWE creative reportedly have not been informed of any changes.

The switch from Cody to The Rock generated a groundswell of support for Rhodes but also boos for The Rock over the past week, including "Rocky Sucks" chants during Monday Night Raw.

The "Rocky Sucks" chants were said to have surprised WWE. The company has no official mandate on how to respond to the anti-Rock sentiment, however, and how WWE has handled the chants at Vengeance Day, Raw, and NXT has been determined on a case-by-case basis by the lead producer of the show, according to Fightful Select

Aaron Varble of SE Scoops also noted that "no official plans or memos or directives" have been passed down by TKO executives about the negative reception for Dwayne Johnson.

WWE's plans for the WrestleMania 40 main event will become clear tonight at the company's press conference in Las Vegas.
