Original WWE WrestleMania 41 Plans For John Cena Revealed
WWE's original plans for John Cena at WrestleMania
Jan 4, 2025
John Cena is heading into his very final WrestleMania in 2025, competing one last time on the Grandest Stage Of Them All amidst his retirement tour this year that will see plenty of ‘last time evers’ for the 16-time world champion. There have been many rumblings about who will be his opponent by the time WWE heads to Las Vegas for WrestleMania 41.
There were reportedly talks of Logan Paul being the man to face him, followed up by a recent report that the working plan is for John Cena to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, which would see a story of Cena trying to break the record (currently tied between himself and Ric Flair) of most recognised world championship reigns.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed the original plans that were set for Cena at the show. According to him, Cena was slated to do battle with the world champion on Monday Night RAW (currently World Heavyweight Champion Gunther) as the original belief was that Cody Rhodes would be facing The Rock. This now seems to have changed, though it is now expected by WWE higher ups that The Rock will in fact be at the show, so it remains to be seen how concrete the current plans for Cena are.
