Barring any unforeseen changes, current AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo should become a free agent soon.

Fightful Select reported that the belief within AEW is that Penta's deal expires next week. He is expected to receive interest from WWE, while several independent organisations are already looking to book him in high-profile matches (should he be become available).

Though he confirmed that he was still with AEW in October and willing to return to the ring for the promotion, Penta has not wrestled an AEW match since the July 17 Rampage taping. He has wrestled several matches for Mexican independent promotions (as well as one for CMLL) since then, however.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the Lucha Brothers were WWE-bound, though those reports turned out to be premature.

While the expectation was that the team would join WWE once their AEW deals expired late this year, Tony Khan made the decision to add injury time to Fenix's contract after hearing what WWE had planned for the Lucha Bros on SmackDown.

Khan also felt that other talent would take advantage of him if he didn't take a stand on the issue.

Fenix's deal will now run until well into 2025.
