TNA held one of their biggest pay-per-views of the year on Saturday, July 20 as Slammiversary emanated from the Verdun Auditorium in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There were fewer surprises on the show than had been teased during the week, however.

TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace noted ahead of Slammiversary that "the surprises are going to be even bigger than people realise." Beyond the shocking appearance of Earl Hebner to provide a callback to the Montreal Screwjob and Moose being eliminated much earlier than expected in the main event, Slammiversary was bereft of the amount of surprises that had been teased before the event.

Ultimately, Jordynne Grace revealed that plans had to be changed for Slammiversary due to the global IT outage on Friday.

"Never said this, but do apologize for the lack of surprise - could have never predicted a global tech outage cancelling thousands of flights. Several wrestlers, including my husband, could not make it. I regret trying to hype the show with that statement, sorry guys!" Grace tweeted.

She then added: "Management worked so hard to make sure as many people made it as possible! So much time and expense. A dozen wrestlers drove 12+ hours overnight. Nightmare travel situation before such a big event."

Over 8.5 million devices were affected by the global IT outage and it resulted in thousands of flights being cancelled, the disruption of healthcare appointments, and TV broadcasters being knocked off the air. The issues were caused after a CrowdStrike software update stopped devices using the Microsoft Windows operating system from working.

Jordynne Grace ended up having a successful night at Slammiversary, retaining her Knockouts World Title against Ash By Elegance.
