Report: Bryan Danielson Still Wants AEW Match With Kota Ibushi

Bryan Danielson has his eyes set on an AEW match with Kota Ibushi

Kota Ibushi finally made his long-awaited AEW debut during Blood & Guts III on July 19, and whilst Ibushi hasn’t been confirmed as ‘All Elite’, that hasn’t stopped some of AEW’s finest from wanting a match with ‘The Golden Star’.

Step forward Bryan Danielson.

‘The American Dragon’ was originally pencilled in for Blood & Guts III but was pulled due to injuries sustained in his hard-hitting bout with Kazuchika Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II in June, and a recap of the match from Sports Illustrated stated that Danielson still wants to face Ibushi in an AEW ring.

The article suggests that Ibushi is ‘high on Danielson’s list of desired opponents’, with Danielson ‘badly wanting’ to face Ibushi in the double ring cage match.

Danielson and Ibushi have never clashed in singles action, but have shared the ring on five occasions, clashing in tag action in Pro Wrestling NOAH between June 2007 and July 2009. Danielson was also on commentary for Ibushi’s short run in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic.

Whilst Ibushi’s future in AEW is yet to be confirmed, Kenny Omega promised we’d see him in an AEW ring again.
