Report: Chris Hero Signs With AEW

Chris Hero has signed with AEW!

Chris Hero is All Elite.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that Chris Hero is "officially on board full-time as a Producer for AEW." Hero started with AEW on a trial basis on June 17, initially working the Ring of Honor TV tapings that took place before and after the inaugural edition of AEW Collision.

Hero has continued to work behind the scenes as a producer/agent, including at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. PWInsider noted Hero has received high marks within AEW from those the outlet has spoken with.

The former ROH World Tag Team Champion will be a popular addition to AEW, with many members of the roster excited to see Hero when he was initially brought in on a trial basis.

Hero's in-ring future remains unclear, however. The 43-year-old hasn't wrestled since a WWE NXT UK battle royal in March 2020 but AEW CEO Tony Khan revealed that he is trying to convince Hero to return to the squared circle.

Hero's signing comes at a time when AEW are expanding their backstage personnel, having brought in the likes of Will Washington and Jimmy Jacobs. Scotty 2 Hotty also reportedly started with AEW on July 26 as a producer/agent on a trial basis.
