Report: FTR Title Change Unrelated To Cash Wheeler's Legal Issues

Latest on FTR shockingly dropping the AEW World Tag Team Titles

AEW Collision on October 7 opened in shocking fashion as Ricky Starks and Big Bill, very much out of nowhere, defeated FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Cash Wheeler was taken out of the match in the opening moments, being put through the announce table with a Chokeslam by Big Bill. This left Dax Harwood all alone and he was promptly pinned after four minutes following multiple Big Bill Chokeslams and a Ricky Starks Spear.

Reports have since indicated the belts were taken off FTR because Cash Wheeler is dealing with an injury. It is unknown how long he will be out of action. FTR vs. The Young Bucks IV had been in the works, reportedly for Full Gear.

Some wondered if Cash Wheeler's ongoing legal issues may have also led to the title change but PWInsider has reported the switch from FTR to Ricky Starks and Big Bill was not related to the case against Wheeler in Florida. Wheeler was arrested in August and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. He was charged following a road rage incident, during which Wheeler allegedly flashed a gun at another motorist.

The AEW talent pleaded not guilty in early August.
