Report: Major Promotions Not Interested In Signing Alberto Del Rio

Contrary to Del Rio's latest claims

While Alberto El Patron - fka Alberto Del Rio in WWE - has claimed he will be joining one of the three main promotions in the United States next year, interest in signing the former WWE Champion appears to be nonexistent.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that individuals he has spoken to in WWE, IMPACT Wrestling and MLW have all either said they would be shocked if El Patron signs with them or they have no interest in adding him to the roster. AEW talent also noted they had never heard Del Rio's name mentioned as a possible signing.

"I've spoken with people from WWE, MLW, Impact who say they either have no interest in bringing Del Rio in or would be shocked if it happens. AEW talent I've spoken to say they've never heard him mentioned as even possibly coming in," Sean Ross Sapp tweeted.

El Patron's recent comments are just the latest claim from the former IMPACT World Champion that he is signing with a major promotion.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Del Rio claimed he has been "in communication" with WWE and was hopeful of returning to the company by the end of the year, something which WWE sources described as "bullsh*t." It then emerged in October of this year that he had been telling people he was gearing up for a WWE return, with a source within Vince McMahon's company once again quashing his claims, saying: "There's no f**king way that happens."

Del Rio hasn't performed for a major promotion since he departed IMPACT Wrestling in 2018. He spent much of the last 18 months involved in legal proceedings after he was charged with kidnapping and sexual assault. The charges against him were dismissed earlier this month after a witness did not appear in court.
