Report: More On Rusev Pulling Out Of WWE Super ShowDown 2020

Did Rusev pull out of the show, or did WWE remove him from the card?

This week's Monday Night Raw saw Rusev quietly replaced in the Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy gauntlet match by Rey Mysterio.

The match listing on WWE.com also now has the master of the 619 going up against R-Truth, Bobby Lashley, Erick Rowan, AJ Styles and Andrade.

PWInsider reported that Rusev was pulled from the match as a result of a contract dispute he's having with WWE. Now, however, Dave Meltzer is reporting The Bulgarian Brute backed out of the show by himself.

"The story is an injury. He backed out of the show, essentially,” Meltzer said on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

It appears that Rusev pulling out of the show is very much a last-minute development and something WWE did not see coming.

Rusev, of course, has been involved in WWE's trips to Saudi Arabia before. Last time, when a large chunk of the roster was left stranded overseas, the former United States Champion (who does like to have some fun on social media, it must be noted) tweeted: "At this point and time We need all the prayers... brother."

Super ShowDown takes place this coming Thursday, starting at 5 pm GMT.
