Report: More WWE Superstars Could Be Released

A small number of wrestlers reportedly see this as their only opportunity to exit the company.

After they left WWE, both Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose) and Shawn Spears (Tye Dillinger) signed with All Elite Wrestling, and upon arrival were presented as two of the company's top stars. Since then, WWE have been reluctant to release any Superstars which had left talent like Luke Harper and Sin Cara stuck in the company.

On Sunday, WWE seemingly moved away from this policy

as they announced Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension had been released.

According to Paul Davis

, this is because the freed-up salaries from releasing want-away stars can be used to offer improved deals to mid and upper card Superstars who WWE want to retain.

For the avoidance of doubt, Davis penned: "A WWE source told me that another reason why the company is more open to releasing some wrestlers is that it helps them cut down on salaries while freeing up more money to offer deals to mid and upper card wrestlers who they don’t want to leave the company."

More Superstars could also be released from the company as a small number of wrestlers believe this is the only time WWE will allow them to leave, according to Tom Colohue of PWInsider.

He tweeted:

"According to a source in the #WWE locker room, a small number of WWE wrestlers are considering asking for their releases now due to concern that this might be the only time the company is willing to let them go."
