Report: Tony Khan Hit By Monitors During AEW All In Altercation Between CM Punk & Jack Perry

Tony Khan hit by monitors during the AEW All In fracas between CM Punk and Jack Perry

Tony Khan was present at the Gorilla position for the backstage altercation at All In between CM Punk and Jack Perry, it has been revealed.

Bryan Alvarez has reported on Wrestling Observer Live that Tony Khan was so close to the fracas that monitors actually fell onto the AEW CEO.

"They got close enough to Tony Khan that I believe monitors were knocked down onto Tony Khan. He was right there and he saw everything and a lot of people were right there and they saw everything," Alvarez said.

Haus of Wrestling has confirmed that Tony Khan was at the Gorilla position but he may not have seen the actual altercation between Perry and Punk play out, which could be one of the reasons there is an investigation into what happened. The altercation is said to have happened very quickly with Samoa Joe and others breaking up the fracas.

The altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry took place ahead of Punk's match with Samoa Joe and after Perry's match with HOOK. There are differing accounts about what exactly happened but there was an altercation that was sparked by Perry saying during his match, "It's real glass, cry me a river." This was in reference to a past argument between Punk and Perry over the former Jungle Boy wanting to use real glass for an AEW Collision segment, something Punk took issue with. Perry was unhappy as the matter initially remained within the promotion until individuals close to Punk made it public knowledge, with Perry believing that those close to Punk did so to try and embarrass him.

CM Punk was said to be furious following the altercation, threatening to quit AEW in the heat of the moment. The incident also almost delayed the start of All In and Bryan Alvarez reported that FTR and The Young Bucks were first asked to open the show but the tag teams weren't ready. Arrangements were then made for The Golden Elite vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Bullet Club Gold to open All In but a furious Samoa Joe talked Punk into working their match.

Punk and Perry have since been suspended by All Elite Wrestling pending the results of an investigation. Punk chewing out Tony Khan backstage at All In before the incident with Perry may have also contributed to Punk's suspension.
