Report: Update On Mustafa Ali's WWE Release Request

Ali requested his release in January

Last month it was revealed that Mustafa Ali had requested his WWE release, with subsequent reports suggesting Ali had a ‘heated argument’ with Vince McMahon preceding his request.

Despite WWE releasing swathes of talent over the past two years, and granting releases to many who have asked for it, they took the decision to deny Ali his release, with the former Retribution leader still tied down to a WWE contract.

Now a report from Fightful Select has shed some more light on Ali’s situation, with sources telling Fightful that the term ‘value’ was used when reasoning why Ali should be kept in the company. Whether 'value' can be interpreted as Ali's potential value to WWE, or his value to other companies is open to debate.

After Ali’s argument with Vince, Ali has been kept away from WWE television, even going as far as to take to social media and double down on his desire to leave. No surprises then that WWE currently have no plans for Ali and that there is little - if any - correspondence between WWE and Ali.

If things do not change, then it is believed that Ali’s contract with WWE has ‘well over a year’ left to run, at least.
