Report: Vince McMahon Was Open To Bryan Danielson Wrestling In The G1 Climax

Vince McMahon Was Reportedly Open To Allowing Bryan Danielson To Compete In The NJPW G1 Climax

Back in 2021, the future of Bryan Danielson was very much up in the air. There were multiple sides trying to sign him to a deal, including AEW and WWE, with both offering up potential quirks and enticements to bring him in, some of which that may surprise people, as Vince McMahon was reportedly open to Danielson breaking down the forbidden door and going over to NJPW to work in the G1 Climax.

Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that, “In 2021, when Danielson was negotiating with both sides, he did not get Khan to agree to allow him to do G-1, but Vince McMahon said he could do G-1. My gut is that Vince McMahon had no idea what G-1 was at the time.”

Danielson recently noted that the chances of AEW allowing him to work the G1 were only at 33% due to the commitments he has to AEW, and the huge miss it would be for him to not work for a good month or so of TV.
