At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Adam Cole defended the NXT Championship against The Velveteen Dream in a Backlot Brawl. The match received a mixed response as many thought it dragged until Roderick Strong and Bobby Fished showed up, and the finish was criticised for making The Velveteen Dream look foolish.

Raj Giri at WrestlingInc. reported some backstage details about the brawl yesterday and revealed it was produced by Triple H, Michael Hayes and Jeremy Borash, the team that put the Boneyard match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 together. Giri noted other people may have also been involved, but they were the main producers that made changes and suggestions.

There was also a break in the action after Adam Cole fell from the ladder onto the windshield, hence why the NXT Champion had dried blood on his arm after landing.

The brawl did not take as long to film as the Boneyard match and the shoot was finished in under three hours. The match itself was reportedly taped on May 28 and filming did not begin until after midnight because of an unforecast downpour.
