Report: World Of Sport Reach Out To Nick Aldis & Mickie James For Potential Relaunch
World of Sport reportedly looking to relaunch with Nick Aldis and Mickie James
It seems as though iconic British wrestling promotion World of Sport is looking at a possible relaunch, with reports suggesting the consortium behind the brand has reached out to Nick Aldis and Mickie James about a planned revival.
The report comes courtesy of Inside the Ropes, who revealed that sources attached to the World of Sport brand indicated that several options are on the table in terms of a relaunch, with one approach being that of an NWA-like model consisting of low-cost free-to-air studio wrestling shows, alongside live events.
The report also suggests that WOS have reached out to former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis to gauge his interest in being involved, with 'The National Treasure' set to officially become a free agent in January 2023 following the expiration of his NWA deal. What’s more, it’s been suggested that Aldis’ wife the legendary Mickie James may also be in mind with regards to a relaunch.
The benchmark for British wrestling in the 1970s and 1980s, World of Sport was initially revived in 2016 for a one-off special in ITV, before a short series in 2018, and tour in 2019.
