Further details about why WWE scrapped plans for Alexa Bliss's return to TV have been revealed.

It emerged this week that Bliss was planned for a return on the January 13 episode of Monday Night Raw in San Jose, California but WWE creative was suddenly told to drop all plans for the former Raw Women's Champion. This was reportedly due to discussions over Bliss's WWE contract.

In an update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that WWE and Alexa Bliss are currently locked in a stand-off over her contract. Alexa Bliss is currently seeking a new contract from the company, while WWE expect Bliss to make her comeback under the terms of her existing deal, which has already been extended due to her hiatus from the company.

Issues arose after representatives for Bliss informed WWE ahead of her planned return on January 13 that they wanted to open talks about a new contract. After WWE noted they wanted Bliss to return under her existing deal, Bliss's side "dug in" about wanting a new contract. At this point, WWE decided to play hardball back and pulled plans for her return and put any creative plans for the former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion on hold.

The two sides remain in a stand-off over the situation and there has been no resolution to the situation as of yet.

Alexa Bliss has been gone from WWE TV since January 2023. She underwent skin cancer removal later in the year and also gave birth in late 2023. Bliss has also suffered from postpartum health complications.
