WWE are planning to hold a special Sunday Night's Main Event on September 6 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, but the company named World Wrestling Entertainment didn't plan to feature professional wrestling in one of the headline spots at the event.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the original plan for Sunday Night's Main Event was for a legitimate Lil Yachty concert to be one of the event's "main drawing points." The plan was scrapped, however, following feedback over the July 18 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event and WWE instead decided to "put a great emphasis on the wrestling product this time around" on the professional wrestling show.

The July episode of Saturday Night's Main Event from Madison Square Garden was heavily centred around the New York Knicks' NBA playoffs win, with the main event segment featuring Jalen Brunson and Roman Reigns, with Brunson being presented with his own WWE World Heavyweight Title replica belt. Brunson then made the save for Reigns during a Seth Rollins' beatdown, which came about following a Tyrese Haliburton distraction.

The severity of the New York Knicks on the show was criticised by pro wrestling fans, particularly by those who have no affiliation to the NBA team or the United States, and even people in WWE weren't "exactly enthusiastic" about the sheer extent of the New York Knicks' presentation.

While there will be no Lil Yachty concert, the rapper and Trick Williams are scheduled to be a focal point of Sunday Night's Main Event. Yachty has been Trick's manager since March and has accompanied him to the ring for multiple pay-per-view matches.
