Road Dogg looks set to begin his second run with TNA at the promotion's upcoming Slammiversary pay-per-view on Sunday, June 28.
According to PWInsider, Brian James is expected to be in attendance for Slammiversary amidst him holding talks with TNA. Road Dogg was initially pitched to be brought in as a producer, but the belief amongst some in TNA is he may end up being involved with creative.
Following Tommy Dreamer's announcement that he and TNA had parted ways, it was reported that Road Dogg had been discussed as his replacement and the two sides had been in talks for weeks.
Brian James had been the co-head writer of Friday Night SmackDown but he quit WWE in March of 2026 due to being unhappy in the company. Should he land in TNA, this might be a positive for the working relationship between TNA and WWE NXT as James has a close relationship with Johnny Russo, the head writer of NXT, PWInsider noted.
Following Tommy Dreamer's departure, TNA creative is currently headed by Hunter "Delirious" Johnson and TNA Vice President of TV Production Eric Tompkins.
In addition to the expectation Road Dogg will be there, a former multi-time singles champion who wrestled for WWE will debut for TNA at Slammiversary.
Brian James wrestled for TNA from 2002 until 2009. He is a two-time NWA World Tag Team Champion with the promotion, while he was also a part of multiple stables in 3 Live Kru, the James Gang, and Voodoo Kin Mafia.
