Roderick Strong Wins WWE NXT Cruiserweight Championship

A new champion was crowned!

WWE NXT 2.0 has a brand new Cruiserweight Champion!

The September 21 episode of NXT finally saw the long-awaited Title clash between KUSHIDA and Roderick Strong, with the leader of the Diamond Mine picking up the victory to claim his first Cruiserweight Championship.

Strong had some assistance from his Diamond Mine stablemates in the bout. Malcolm Bivens put Strong's foot on the bottom rope when he was locked in KUSHIDA's hoverboard lock, before the rest of the faction attacked the reigning Cruiserweight Champion outside the ring.

Once the action returned to the Squared Circle, Strong was able to hit his End Of Heartache finisher to pin KUSHIDA and win the Cruiserweight Title.

The loss brings an end to KUSHIDA's first run as Cruiserweight Champion, a Title he won back in April from Santos Escobar.

The Japanese wrestler had been due to defend his title against Strong a number of weeks ago, following the former Undisputed Era member's return to NXT with his new stable, but a positive COVID-19 test for KUSHIDA meant the match had to be postponed.
