Rumour Killer On Rey Fenix Having Hip Replacement Surgery

Rey Fenix doesn't have any metal hips

Despite tweeting over the weekend that he was "getting used to the new hip", Rey Fenix has, in fact, not undergone double hip replacement surgery.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that one of Fenix's friends stated he did not require a hip replacement.

"The story that Rey Fenix was getting a hip replacement or had a hip replacement is inaccurate. I don't know exactly what the whole story is but one of his friends just said he did not have a hip replacement. If this guy had a hip replacement, I mean he'd be screwed for his style... A not-mobile Rey Fenix would be a killer," Meltzer said.

Fenix has been out of action since October 2023 when he dropped the International Championship to Orange Cassidy. The luchador has been dealing with several injuries, noting in January that he had been recovering from the worst injury of his career but he would be back soon.

"We are working on the recovery. It's one of my, I think it's the worst injury. But I'm taking my time. I'm doing a good job in my recovery. I put everything with the doctors. I'm following the doctor's line. I'm doing my best. And I think, I can't talk so much about -- but soon. Soon I will be in the ring, doing lucha libre, doing the thing that makes me so happy," Fenix told Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture.

The former AEW World Tag Team Champion appeared on AEW TV in January and was scheduled to make his return on January 17. He ended up being pulled from the match, though, and Fenix was replaced with Komander.
