Rumour Killer On Thunder Rosa Asking For Her AEW Release

Thunder Rosa did not ask for her AEW release

A rumour killer has emerged on Thunder Rosa's AEW status.

According to Brad Shepard of the UNLEASHED podcast, the AEW Women's World Champion requested her release following her match with Marina Shafir on June 8. Her request was denied, according to Shepard.

The report was quickly disputed, though, with Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer tweeting that Rosa did not request her release. Rosa's husband Brian Cervantes then later denied the report, asking Ringside News in a since-deleted tweet, "where do you guys come up with this stupid cr*p?"

Thunder Rosa is currently out of action due to a back injury and an Interim AEW Women's World Champion was crowned at All Out, with Toni Storm winning a Four-Way that also featured Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, and Hikaru Shida. Rumours suggested that Rosa was not actually injured, though, and she was instead taking time off due to major heat with Baker and Hayter. This rumour was alluded to by Storm during her post-All Out press conference and she questioned whether Rosa's injury was real. If Storm's comments were genuine or as part of a storyline is unknown, however.

Thunder Rosa has been a part of All Elite Wrestling since the summer of 2020 and she signed with the promotion full-time last year. She won the AEW Women's World Title in March, defeating Britt Baker.
