Shawn Michaels Comments On CM Punk's WWE Return
Michaels had previously said he would love to have Punk in NXT.
Shawn Michaels is happy to see CM Punk return to WWE.
"I'm happy for him, I'm happy for the company, I'm happy for the WWE fanbase, the WWE Universe. Stories like this are always fantastic, even if they are controversial, that's part of what makes them fantastic," said the two-time WWE Hall of Famer during a recent interview with Pete Rosenberg.
The Heartbreak Kid also pointed out some similarities he and the Straight-Edge Superstar share, saying:
"I understand business and also, look, I wasn't always the most popular guy to people but I was really good at my job and I feel like that's one of the reasons I've had one here at the WWE for almost 40 years because again, I'm dependable and I'm good at my job. And I think if you are that, there's always an opportunity here".
WWE's Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative had been asked about the prospect of Punk returning to WWE during a media call ahead of NXT No Mercy in September, with the 58-year-old noting that he had always gotten along with Punk and would love to have him in NXT.
