Title Change On NJPW Road To New Beginning Tour

NJPW title change on the Road to New Beginning

A title change took place at the February 4 Road to New Beginning show from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

The show was main evented as Catch 22 of Francesco Akira and TJP defended the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles against former champions Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney of Bullet Club Wardogs. The two teams have been in a programme for several months and a title change suggests it will continue as Bullet Club picked up the win after 18 minutes.

The finish came about after Francesco Akira hesitated upon seeing a fork held by Drilla Moloney, calling back to New Year Dash. This allowed the challengers to connect with the Full Clip to Akira for Bullet Club Wardogs to become two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

The title win ended Catch 22's third reign as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions at 31 days. Akira and TJP under his Aswang persona regained the belts from Connors and Moloney at Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4.

The programme between United Empire and Bullet Club Wardogs will continue until the New Beginning in Osaka on February 11 when the two factions clash in a Steel Cage Match. The match will be Will Ospreay's final match as a full-time NJPW talent.
