TNT & TBS General Manager Comments On AEW's Network Move In 2022

Dynamite moves to TBS in January

TNT and TBS General Manager Brett Weitz has commented on AEW Dynamite's move to TBS in early 2022.

Starting on January 5, 2022, AEW Dynamite will officially move over to TBS as part of a new television agreement that will see AEW Rampage continue on TNT, while four AEW Specials will also air on TNT as well.

Dynamite's move comes largely down to TNT acquiring the right to National Hockey League Games, with the switch in network preventing the need for Dynamite to move timeslots in the future, such as when the show broadcast on two Saturdays in October due to the start of the NFL season.

Weitz believes AEW Dynamite has a natural home in TBS due to the demographic of the average TBS viewer.

Speaking to Deadline, Weitz said: "We obviously make these decisions with a lot of data and gut behind them. The brand of TBS is we’re always here for a good time. That is exactly what AEW is and AEW Dynamite, and so, when we look at the concentric circles of TBS and TNT, our TBS viewer is a heavy drama viewer, believe it or not.

"So, we know that those fans will migrate over, and we also believe that wrestling fans find the content wherever it is, and we also think, more wrestling’s better for everybody, honestly."
