Tony Schiavone: No Word On Tessa Blanchard Joining AEW
The former IMPACT World Champion has been without a promotion since June 2020
Former IMPACT World Champion Tessa Blanchard’s employment status has been hot talk since her acrimonious split from IMPACT in June 2020. Many have speculated Blanchard could be on her way to AEW, but AEW commentator Tony Schiavone isn’t so sure about that.
Speaking on this week’s AEW: Dynamite Post-Show, Schiavone said the following when asked about Blanchard:
“Yes, I don’t think that’s happening. At least not anytime soon. I would have heard that [if she’s coming over].”
Blanchard is believed to be taking an extended break from the ring having recently gotten married and is also believed to be waiting for the Covid-19 pandemic to be over.
A third generation star, Blanchard’s career has been fraught with controversy, but also groundbreaking, with Blanchard becoming the first woman to hold a men’s world title in a major promotion.
Blanchard has been linked with both WWE and AEW since leaving IMPACT, with her father the legendary Tully Blanchard currently signed with AEW in an on-screen managerial role.
