Top IMPACT Star Wants Match With Mercedes Moné

Could we see Mercedes Moné pop up in IMPACT Wrestling?

A top star of IMPACT Wrestling's Knockouts division wants to face Mercedes Moné.

When asked by Fightful's In The Weeds which New Japan Pro-Wrestling talents she would like to face, Deonna Purrazzo mentioned Mercedes Moné, before noting a match with Mayu Iwatani would be fun to revisit.

"Obviously the first person everyone thinks about is Mercedes Moné. That is a dream match of mine, for years now. So I think if that is an opportunity, I would be remiss to not be like, 'Yes, that's what I want, that's what I need.' So I don't know. But she hasn't had the championship match with Mayu [Iwatani] yet. If Mayu wins, I've been in a match with Mayu. Mayu beat me at Ring of Honor to challenge for the-then Women of Honor Women's Championship, so there's some history there that could be really fun to revisit if Mayu ends up defeating Mercedes," Purrazzo said.

Moné is set to defend the IWGP Women's Championship against Mayu Iwatani at STARDOM's All Star Grand Queendom show from Yokohama Arena on April 23. The show is scheduled to be Moné's final NJPW match of her current contract but she is reportedly in talks with NJPW/STARDOM over a contract extension.

Should Moné extend her stay in New Japan, she could conceivably face Deonna Purrazzo in a Champion vs. Champion clash at the upcoming IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2 event on August 20. Purrazzo is currently in her third reign as Knockouts World Champion, having regained the title at Rebellion on Sunday, April 16.
