The fallout from the pivoting to The Rock vs. Roman Reigns in the upcoming WWE WrestleMania XL main event continues to develop.

After winning the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row, it was assumed that Cody Rhodes was set to take on Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Reigns at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’ once more, until he handed his clash with ‘The Tribal Chief’ over to The Rock.

Conflicting reports have emerged concerning the booking of The Rock, with some claiming that Rock exercised corporate clout to get the main event over the head of WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H. A subsequent report from Dave Meltzer suggests that Triple H knew all about plans to run Rock vs. Reigns at Mania when he booked Rhodes to win the Rumble, with Meltzer posting the following on X/Twitter:

“My buddy Jay told me that since his tweets are private I probably should note that the idea that Paul Levesque didn't know about Rock's signing with the company and him wrestling Reigns when he booked the Rumble is clearly not the case.  He knew exactly what he was doing,” posted Meltzer.
