The joint Forbidden Door pay-per-view between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling looks to have been a success for both promotions.

AEW CEO Tony Khan revealed during the post-Forbidden Door media scrum that pay-per-view buys for Forbidden Door 2023 were up from Forbidden Door 2022 and AEW Double or Nothing 2023. The exact number of pay-per-view buys for this year's Forbidden Door was not revealed but the final figure will be above the 140,000 buys that Double or Nothing drew. The first Forbidden Door show drew 127,000 buys.

Forbidden Door 2023 also set a new live gate record for AEW of $1.2 million. Approximately 14,000 fans were in attendance at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena on Sunday, June 25. Forbidden Door is expected to remain a tradition for AEW and NJPW going forward.

The June 25 pay-per-view has been critically acclaimed, with praise being lauded on a number of matches, including Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay, CM Punk vs. Satoshi Kojima, and Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada.
