With PAC out injured, some have questioned whether Jon Moxley could sub in for the Geordie wrestler when defending the AEW World Trios Championships.
PAC recently hurt his ankle during a singles bout with Swerve Strickland, plunging a planned Trios Titles defence against The Opps into jeopardy. As a member of The Death Riders, it was assumed that leader Jon Moxley could defend the titles on PAC’s behalf alongside team mates Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta under the Freebird/Wolfpac rule, but a report from Fightful Select suggests this may not be in effect, with AEW stating that Moxley is not recognised as a Trios Champion.
Regardless, Mox is set to team with Claudio and Yuta against The Opps trio of Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and HOOK on the Spring BreakThru special of Dynamite on April 16, with the Fightful report stating that Mox would be recognised as a Trios Champion should The Death Riders leave the show victorious.
What this means is unclear, with Tony Schiavone stating on commentary during the April 12 edition of Collision that Moxley was recognised as an interim champion in order to compete in the title match.
