Update On Matt Cardona Following ROH Final Battle

Matt Cardona competed in one the marquee matches at ROH Final Battle 2024, challenging reigning ROH World Champion Chris Jericho for the top prize in the men’s division at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. In the lead up to the show, it was reported that AEW had reached out and offered Matt Cardona a contract, though there was no confirmation on whether anything was signed. 

Fightful Select have provided some details on Matt Cardona coming out of the Final Battle event, including his current status and a potential injury. When it comes to his contractual status, Fightful Select is noting that he is not working under an AEW or ROH contract, despite wrestling at a few shows recently. 

There was some potential sour news on the back of Cardona’s ROH Final Battle appearance, as it is also noted that he was helped to the back due to a legit ankle injury following the match, and he was sporting crutches after the show. His opponent at ROH Final Battle, Chris Jericho, recently made comments about Cardona, stating he reminded him of Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart.
