Update On Mustafa Ali's TNA Contract Status

Mustafa Ali has hit the ground running since officially joining TNA Wrestling, with Ali defeating Chris Sabin to become X-Division Champion in his debut match at No Surrender on February 24.

Ali remains undefeated in TNA, but a report from Fightful Select suggests that Ali hasn’t signed a contract of any kind with the promotion and is working on a per-appearance deal. Whether this is Ali’s choice or TNA’s is unknown, with TNA reportedly keen to have talents work per-appearance deals rather than offer out long-term contracts. TNA recently revealed that the Motor City Machine Guns are set to leave the promotion, with the X-Division icons sure to leave a gaping hole in the roster, whilst the future of other long term stars remains up in the air.

Since departing WWE in 2023, Ali has become one of the hottest commodities on the independent scene, having worked for the likes of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, and DEFY amongst others, with Ali’s appearance on indy cards reportedly boosting ticket sales. 

It remains to be seen how long Ali will remain working with TNA, as Fightful’s report also suggested that other televised wrestling companies have maintained interest in working with the former Retribution leader.
