Update On When Kenny Omega Will Return To AEW TV

Kenny Omega is "getting better" following surgery earlier this year and the former AEW World Champion is back in the gym ahead of returning to the ring, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio. When exactly Omega will return to AEW TV is unknown but Dave Meltzer noted the vibe he has is Omega will be back before the end of 2024. 

"I don't even know if there is a date on when Kenny Omega will return...He's getting better I know that. Yeah [he's been in the gym]. I looked up the surgery that he had, usually for a wrestler it's about a four-month recovery, so a lot of wrestlers push it and probably come back quicker. So that would be mid-September but he didn't just have the hernia problem. He had a lot of different problems. But, like I said, he is coming back, that's pretty much the word. I don't think it's like months and months away. I don't want to say this because I feel stupid saying it because he has not told me anything in this regard but just the vibe I have is it'll be before the end of the year," Meltzer said.

Omega has not wrestled since December 2023 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis, a bout of illness that left him with 24 hours to live at one point. He underwent surgery on May 16 in New York, only a couple of weeks after he returned to AEW TV and was taken out by The Elite. 

The belief is Kenny Omega will rekindle his feud with Kazuchika Okada when 'The Cleaner' makes his return to All Elite Wrestling programming.
