Former WWE Women’s Champion Asuka has shared an update after undergoing knee surgery.

The Damage CTRL member has been on the shelf since May 2024, with knee issues believed to have been a cause of concern for the ‘Empress of Tomorrow’ since March.

In a vlog posted to her KanaChanTV YouTube channel entitled 'Surgery', Asuka blogged going into hospital for surgery, although the specifics of her knee injury were not disclosed. Per Asuka, the procedure itself lasted around 90 minutes, with Asuka discharged the following day.

“The doctor told me that the surgery was a success. My knee hurts, but I can take painkillers and I’m fine,” Asuka said, before revealing she would be moving to a rehabilitation centre to begin rehab. The video ended with the words, “See you soon.”

Asuka last wrestled at Backlash in Lyon, France on April 5, with Asuka and Kabuki Warriors tag partner Kairi Sane dropping the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

As of the time of writing, there is no word on when Asuka is projected to return to WWE in-ring competition.
