Recent reports suggested that Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler were involved in a backstage confrontation in WWE in 2024, and a new report has potentially shed some more light on the incident.

Following Cargill’s WWE return at Elimination Chamber 2025, reports surfaced stating that Cargill had some degree of heat in the women’s locker room prior to being written off TV in late 2024, with it later emerging that Cargill and Baszler in particular had a confrontation.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer sheds more light on the nature of the confrontation, stating that there had been in-ring issues during a series of tag matches pitting Baszler and Zoey Stark against Bianca Belair and Cargill. Whilst in-ring snafus and botched spots are common, they was seemingly an issue in this case due to Cargill allegedly blaming others and acting disrespectfully. The locker room knew of Cargill’s relative inexperience and knew she was to be given a big push in the company due to her look and past in AEW, but did not take kindly to such conduct and comments.

One incident allegedly saw Cargill pointing at a bruise on her arm and telling Baszler she needed to ‘learn how to work’ with Baszler responding that if she were shooting then both Cargill and Baszler would know about it.

The report also states that a later confrontation arose after Cargill had blamed others for problems in matches, with Baszler opting to talk to Cargill about her conduct, with things getting so heated that Cargill got right in Baszler’s face, with Baszler not willing to back down. After things calmed down there were said to be no further incidents of note.

Another recent report suggested that Cargill wanting time off from the holiday house show loop and subsequent injury also paid her no favours, but Meltzer suggests this was all a simple misunderstanding, with Cargill not knowing the importance of that house show tour due to her run in AEW where house shows are a rarity. Added to this, the timing of her injury was unfortunate, with some believing it was bogus due to it occurring shortly after Cargill had requested time off.
