William Regal Mentioned On AEW Dynamite
Regal was released by WWE in January
Former WWE NXT General Manager William Regal was mentioned by name on this week’s edition of AEW: Dynamite.
Regal was mentioned by Bryan Danielson during a pre-match backstage interview with Tony Schiavone, with ‘The American Dragon’ praising Regal for training him, whilst noting how his opponent Daniel Garcia was trained by 2point0:
“I had a great mentor in William Regal. He’s hanging out with 2.0. Imagine what it would be like if he was training with someone like myself or training with someone like Jon Moxley. He would be at an entirely different level,” Danielson told Schiavone.
Danielson originally started his training under Shawn Michaels in Texas, but credits Regal with teaching him the bulk of his wrestling knowledge. Danielson’s use of maroon in his ring gear is a tribute to Regal.
Regal was released by WWE in January 2022 after a near 22-year run with the company. Regal is a former King of the Ring, as well as a former Intercontinental, European, and Tag Team champion.
